Lotes Lee Holmes

Mr. Lotes Lee Holmes, 89, of Lillington passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 at Universal Healthcare in Lillington. He was preceded in death by his son Richard Ladd Holmes and daughter-in-law Kris Hazard, brothers TN Holmes and Stephen Holmes, and sister-in-law Alda Holmes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Imogene Holmes of Lillington; daughter Claudia Shannon and husband Tim of Marietta Georgia; sons Robert Holmes and wife Ann Ritter of Decatur, Georgia, and Ronald Holmes and wife Vivian of Spring Lake. He has seven grandchildren: Sean Shannon; Ben and Susannah Holmes; Laura Moebs and husband Jason, Patrick Holmes; and Elisabeth and Blythe Holmes. He is also survived by one brother Joe Holmes of Olivia, and his wife Shirley; one sister-in-law, Sue Holmes of Brunswick, Georgia, and 12 Holmes nieces and nephews.

Lotes was a loving and devoted father who enjoyed playing golf with his sons. He was most recently a member of Cape Fear Presbyterian Church. Prior to that, he was a longtime member of Lillington Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He loved the Lord. He retired as a maintenance supervisor from Campbell University as well as from Overhills Estate, where he was the property manager for nearly 30 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Holmes were fixtures at Anderson Creek School events and could always be counted on for their spirited support at all athletic functions.

A celebration of Life was held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Cape Fear Presbyterian Church in Lillington with Dr. Roger Horne and Ronny Holmes officiating. The family received friends in the church sanctuary following the service.
